Tomorrow Never Dies |

James Bond is a movie institution and while tomorrow may never die, I think Bond has--with me anyway. The latest installment of 007 has left me hollow. Yes, there are cool action sequences, a few neat gadgets, and beautiful people as you would suspect. However, the acting is lousy, the story is ridiculous, and James Bond has turned into a secret agent pitchman for every possible kind of product. The advertising onslaught was unbearable. If a few well executed action scenes is all you need in a movie then you'll be satisfied. Pierce Brosnan just doesn't make for an interesting Bond. He plays it strictly straight-faced. What ever happened to the little bits of comic relief which a well placed smirk from James would provide? I really wanted to like this one especially with the appearance of Michelle Yeoh, a talented newcomer to American cinema. |
