The first big blockbuster of the summer was a little overdone and ridiculous -- not a bit scary. Godzilla has invaded Manhattan in an effort to lay eggs. Hundreds of inept soldiers with clueless leadership attempt to eradicate the city of this giant lizard. The special effects of Godzilla are well done. Godzilla is a slick looking, smooth moving, monster. However, despite leaving a path of destruction everywhere he goes, his pursuers somehow seem to lose him throughout the movie. The attempts of the Army Apaches and the Navy subs to kill Godzilla are comicbook cheezy at best. The movie comes complete with several finales. It just never ends! |
