The General's Daughter |
||
|
The General's daughter, an Army Captain, is found dead and staked to the ground on an Army training ground. John Travolta is tasked with solving the crime under the watchful eyes of the father and everyone under his command there. He is joined by fellow investigator Madeline Stowe to help him unravel the mysterious murder. Contrary to the mild previews, this movie deals with some disturbing topics, and all of them are presented is explicit detail. You have been warned. You learn the General's daughter isn't the good daughter the General would have wanted. You'll also find out, in a very graphic scene, why she has come to behave that way. The issue of women in the military lingers in the background, and because of this, the dilemma presented is very real. If not for the failed attempts at injecting humor (when there should be none) and an unnecessary romantic banter between Travolta and Stowe, this might have been a better effort. Will you be able to guess who commited the murder? Since anybody could have done it, the answer doesn't really matter. |
